The Cattle

The Cattle was a short lived project constructed by Rich Perusi of The Dedication & Sex Positions fame.  I guess you can call this his brainchild band where he not only covers vocal duties, he added some of his own skills on guitar, bass and drums.  Brad Wallace (Transistor Transistor & Orchid) plays a good chunk of the guitar and I believe some of the other dudes spent time in Perusi's previous bands.  These guys have quite a different sound.  It's a some-what lo-fi, surfy, noisy, rock punk mix with addition of some keyboards and mixing.  I'd say it's more on the experimental punk side of things but it is pretty damn catchy and fun at the same time.  These guys only released a Self-Titled CDep which is posted below.  Snag it up Y'all...Rock On...Dig.

Haxan

Haxan. Super mysterious disgusting black metal from nowhere. Limited to only 120 copies from Youth Attack. I've seen this record go for over $100. Crazy. This is the only thing Haxan has done. I would like to have more but I guess having limited quantities of one release adds to the mystery. The YA write up is as follows: Hark! The eclipse of your optimism is upon you! of your hopeful ambitions and good fortune, say goodbye. Admit the mysterious HAXAN as the embodiment of bitter isolation suffocating your doomed, fruitless existence. It is only through this admittance of total nihilistic hopelessness that record collecting appears as essentially crucial as this. Do not despair. While you’re here suffering, let it possess your soul. Scathing, obscure, and violent art.
Dig, if you can handle this.

Luciation

Luciation is a danish black metal band. Luciation is dark, intense, and evil as fuck. Regress Zine did an awesome interview with them and these guys are no joke. They worship Satan more than you could worship anything. "We see it [Luciation] as pure demonic possessions and it comes out different every time." When asked about the recording process they said, "When we record we are mostly in a sort of trance and often drugged to come closer to the unreal dimension, every Luciation is first take, again to come closer to the pureness of possessions."
........Just Dig!
I couldn't find all of their releases so I uploaded what I can find. If anyone has links to the other releases hit me up!

Listener

Listener is a spoken-word or talk music band from Arkansas. Dan Smith speaks in passionate blurts, plays trumpet, bass, and additional instruments while Christin Nelson serenade's us with guitar and multiple instruments (one being a washer that he beats with a baseball bat). If you download some of their stuff, go into it with an open mind. The music has an indie western feel, but Smith's spoken-word is rough around the edges. His words are beautiful, poetic, and full of subtext. Take the time to let it grow on you because you won't be disappointed.

The Boston area's Death Evocation is a fierce and beefed up blend of crossover metallic hardcore that will split the earth's crust.  These heavy hitters blend gargantuan riffs with loud, war-like drums, girthy bass and vicious female fronted vocals.  Similar to some older European metal and punk complete with chugs and epic guitar solos that's sure to impress.  Download their Self Titled 7" below and DIG!

King Generator

King Generator is a thrashy hardcore punk super-group consisting of former and current members of such acts as Anodyne, Versoma, Tombs, Shank, Municipal Waste, Discordance Axis, Human Remains and so many more.  This trio has blessed us only with a single-sided LP that rips so hard.  It's a mean, raw, fast, dirty and super-rad 8 minutes of violent hardcore bliss that's rowdy as all hell.

Call Her Alaska

These guys were nothing close to your everyday run of the mill indie band. Their songs have Catchy and pretty parts with soft mesmerizing vocals throughout, but Call Her Alaska throw in edgier hooks along with some harsher singing. It's a little bit of everything for anyone who takes the time to listen, and they're just as tight live. When you were at a CHA show, you needed to do two things: grab a friend and sing-along. The first 7 tracks is their self-titled EP, and the last two are vocal demos. CHA has a couple of acoustic versions of the EP songs floating around, but I'm pretty sure this is every song they wrote. Huge thanks goes out to Cam from Old Gray for hooking me up with these tracks.

*First vocal demo track is "Windows Down" and "Ala Away" combined, and it's just a little rougher than the final version. The last track is "36 Hours", a song CHA never re-recorded afterward, which is also a little rougher than the EP songs.

Pennines

Time for something real twinkly. UK's Pennines play some beautiful indie pop that anyone can get into. Just think a more sped up American Football with a little more of a positive attitude lyrics wise. Below is their discography. The singer is now the new vocalist for This Town Needs Guns, and other members recently formed the two other bands below. I'm not sure if these dudes broke up, but if they haven't they're way overdue for an LP. Get on on this shit, and get twinkly!
-Members are also in:  This Town Needs Guns, Big Success, & Ballgame
